Thinking about driving a taxi cab in Reno, NV. Anybody have any info on what a cab driver here usually makes?
Looking for info on how much daily, weekly or monthly a cab driver makes in general. Hours? Do you work set hours? Days? or is it you go into work whenever you want, work the hours you want? If anybody has any info it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If I finish Cosmetology school in Ca.. how could I get my license in NV?
I'm currently taking cosmetology school in Redding CA.. and when I finish I plan on working in Reno.. How would I go about getting my license in Nevada? If I'd need more school how much would it cost if I only needed a couple hundred more hours?

About Are there any companies in the Reno area looking for an experience truck driver
Are there any companies in the Reno area looking for an experience truck driver?
My dad has been a truck driver for over 25 years and he is currently seeking a job in the northern Nevada area. He has been self-employed now for about 10 years, but with the economic status it has only gone down hill. He provides for my very sick mother who has been disabled since 1997 and unfortunately has not been able to work. Please, does anyone have any advice? Thank you for taking your time.:)

Does the University of Nevada-Reno offer a program on Creative Writing?
I am planning to double major in both journalism and creative writing. Writing is my passion and I wish to study and work with writing. I looked through several universities through Cappex.com and the University of Nevada catched my attention immediately. I was also recommended to it by my uncle, a recent graduate from there. Yet I could not find any creative writing information anywhere. Did I just not look well enough or does it not exist?

About WHat is there to do in Reno in my weekend vacation
WHat is there to do in Reno in my weekend vacation?
I have three days off work this weekend! And I want to have as much fun as possible! Any attractions to go to?

My wife & I stayed there in '03 while traveling in our motorhome. We now go & see things we like rather than trying to see thins that interest our kids, who are all grown up. We drove over to Lake Tahoe, had to cross a mountain pass of 8,000 feet, no problem. We also drove up to Donner Pass, on the old road to see some of the conditions pioneers faced that terrible winter that the pass was made famous. A trip we really enjoyed was the drive out to Pyramid Lake. Water from Lake Tahoe flows into Pyramid Lake via the Truckee River. No water flows from Pyramid Lake, it all evaporates. This is real desert, all indian land. We really enjoyed the change in scenery. If you happen to be there during the air races they are fantastic. I beleive they are going on right now. We watched them in '03.

I graduated in May from UNR (University of Nevada Reno) and am thinking about moving to So Cal specifically Orange County or Ventura County and was wondering if you needed to be licensed to work at CPS in either of those counties? I've been hearing no, but want to hear from someone who works there. Also how far is Ventura County compared to Orange County? Commuting distance daily?

You're welcome to e-mail me if you want, I'm a CPS worker in southern california. To answer your questions, no you do not need to have a BSW degree and california does not license basic social workers. California only uses licenses for LCSW (licensed clinical social workers) and for this you must have a MFT (marriage and family therapy) or a MSW (Master's in Social Work) degree. This license is to do therapy. CPS in almost all counties in california require a BS or BA degree but they don't care what it's in. They do require a certain number of social service classes (psychology, sociology, social work, etc) - usually the equivalent of a minor. However, most counties require experience working with children (the county where I'm employed requires 2 years experience). Most workers I know get this experience working in a group home for teens in the system that have emotional problems. This pays very badly but gets you the necessary experience. CPS itself pays very well. California is one of the few states that does. I've been with CPS for approximately 7 years and make about 60,000 a year. Sorry, but I can't help you with commuting distance. My recommendation would be to google ventura and orange counties and pick a city in the middle of each then mapquest to determine the distance. Hope this was helpful.

A major company in the United States has a big branch office in California. They posted for a position that required the applicant to be a Nevada resident. A friend of mine who lives in Reno applied and got the job. He has been a Nevada resident for 30 years; there is no Nevada State tax. He is doing Nevada specific work. He follows applicable Nevada rules for hourly employees regarding straight time and overtime. He doesn't travel out of Nevada. He told me this company deducted California State taxes from his paycheck. Is that legal? If not, can I advise my friend to get an exemption from someplace?

I work in WV and pay VA taxes, as I'm in school and a permanent resident of VA. I believe things such as school are an exemption. Dunno bout CA.

If you ONLY live and work in Nevada, you would only have Nevada source wages, therefore no California wages. If they withheld California tax from his paycheck, he needs to either contact his payroll department to get it cleared up (and get the California wages and withholding corrected) or he will need to file a California nonresident return showing zero wages, but showing the tax withholding.
3 :
If he is not working in CA, no CA tax is due and CA taxes should NOT have been withheld. He can file a CA return claiming zero CA income and listing the CA tax withheld. He will get a full refund of the CA taxes withheld. He should simply tell his employer to stop withholding CA taxes from his pay. Where the company is based is not a factor, it's where the work is performed.

Does anyone know how to fix a refrigerator & lives in the reno sparks area?
I got a fridge but when I transported it must of gotten messed up. I waited well over 24 hours to plug it in... now only the bottom portion of my fridge cools, but not the top. It's a side by side so everything in the top portion of the fridge and freezer does not work. Something seems off balance. Does anyone know how to repair a fridge. I live in Sparks, NV. Or if you're a fridge tech and will be in the Reno area... that would be great too!!
