Reno or Los Vegas? which is better to move and find work? also whats the better UV?
Well I live in Elko, NV, and I cant seem to find a job here so im looking into moving to Reno Or Vegas, but I don't now if ones better than the other so Im mainly looking at the UV's for that UV=University, so if you could help by telling me how it is, and the job issue I would me most Great-full.

Vegas is not the place to move unless you have a job lined up. They are still laying off at all the resorts which transfers down to all jobs in Vegas. Unless you are in the medical field .. don't do it. Read the page below

Not sure about the UV's, or Reno, but I live in Phoenix, I have been to Vegas twice in the last 6 months looking for work in the Harley field. From what EVRYONE tells me, including the news, Vegas is HURTING BADLY from the economy. With people being out of work and not having the extra money for travel, etc, Vegas' tourism has dropped off majorly, hotels and casinos laying-off employees righ and left, even cab drivers are starving, I gave a cabbie a $50 tip on a $30 ride because he said as we were talking, he had no tips the entire day, I asked him how much he made daily without tips, he said depending on his fares for the day, he made around $40-60.....that ain't nothin'!!!...so I tipped him WELL and did my good deed for the day......SOOOOO......I don't think NOW would be the time to move to Vegas.

It depends. UNLV is good, but you want a job? Find a job before you move then decide. That's what I would do.

DO NOT move. Reno and Vegas are hurting economically. There are very few jobs and only in hosuekeeping. UNLV is a great school for hotel administration and Reno for medical school.

Even with a down economy Vegas and Reno both offer better opportunities than Elko. Here is a place that you can check for jobs http://www.nevadahenderson.com/category/employment-jobs I have spent some time in Reno... and it's nice in the Summer. The winters are brutal. So it's Vegas for me. As far as schools go I'd pick Reno. Just my opinion. And it really depends on what you are perusing. I just think Reno is a better Academic Environment. I don't think most people who read you post have ever been to Elko.

Been here beginning of June, still no job. Not sure of the UV, never attended neither. Don't Elko have a Kmart? apply their! Vegas: Cab/taxi jobs, tourist industry, fast food, only the educated degree people get the high end jobs. that pay the most!

About What can i do and where to do community service? or volunteer work
What can i do and where to do community service? or volunteer work?
I am doing a pageant. Well i just finished but i want to get ready for next year now, by doing some volunteer work or community service. This is in Nevada, i really cant leave my state to do work because i cannot get there. Mainly near reno, sparks area or Carson City. I really want to know what there is to do to help others. thank u.

usually a local church or youth group is always doing volunteer/community service. for instance, through my church i have restocked local needy pantries, cleaned and prepared a camp for future campers, picked up litter, fundraised for a local cause ect. ect. there's always volunteer workers whom are needed. also a shelter could be a possiblity. hope this helps

Here's a list of places that may need volunteer work: Humane Soceity/Animal Shelter Soup Kitchen Hospitals Schools Leader Dogs For Blind Library Orphanage Assisted Senior Living/Retirement Homes I'm sure there are plenty of things to chose from in your area. Chose what your platform is... anything from Teen Eating Disorders to Fighting child Illeteracy. Whatever your platform is, is what you should volunteer to help do. If you want to help stop animal cruelty, volunteer at the Animal Shelter!! I wish you the best of luck!!!

You would have an opportunity to be a role model and share knowledge about the things that matter to you most. If you are 18 or older, please contact Girl Scouts of Sierra Nevada council - www.gssn.org Best of luck with your pageant and I hope volunteering is something you will continue for life!

I agree, church based community work is good, if not the best, since they are organized and have the resources to do the job. Most of the time it is the manpower that is lacking, so volunteers are always and gladly welcomed. Good luck!

Habitate for Humanity Make a Wish Foundation Salvation Army Red Cross Local Homeless Shelters and soup kitchens You can look it up on Yahoo they have everything

you can do it at your home itself.It can be by helping people below the poverty line by giving them things they need, like say , clothes and food.

Hi I'm an occupational therapy assistant that works with the elderly and if you would like to do volunteer work the elderly is a good place to start as they always miss out. visit with them talk to them play games with them they will love it as alot of them do nothing and see no body throughout the day help them they love company. Good luck in the pageant.
